Volunteering can be a great way of developing your skills, gaining experience and helping out in your local community and Wakefield Council offers people of all ages a range of exciting volunteering opportunities.

As part of National Volunteer Week, Wakefield Council will be holding a Volunteer Fair on Friday 2 June, 10am-3pm at the Elizabethan gallery (next to Trinity Walk) in Wakefield.

The fair offers the chance for you to learn about some of the ways you can volunteer and find out how you can sign-up to get involved . Some of the opportunities include volunteering with:

  • Libraries and Information Service
  • Castles
  • Allotments
  • Emergency Planning
  • Parks & Countryside
  • Health Activators
  • Youth Support Worker
  • And more

There are also a wide range of volunteer roles to look into with local charities and community groups.

Some of our current volunteers will also attend the fair and will be more than happy to speak to visitors about their experiences of lending their time and skills to their local community.
