Act against terrorism campaign

Following on from last week's attack in London it is important that you are able to stay safe whilst out and about and that you are able to identify signs and suspicious activities and know how to report these.

Please see the link to the Governments Act Against Terrorism Campaign. It contains some excellent information/short videos about how to recognise suspicious behaviour and how to report it.

The website is https://act.campaign.gov.uk/ and contains advice about what signs/suspicious things to look out for and how to make a report.  It contains a few short video clips which helps to identify what is suspicious and what to do if you see terrorist/violent extremist content online.

We are aware that due to the nature of the attack on London that there may be some increases in community tensions and on social media and we ask you to be vigilant when out and about during the course of your day, West Yorkshire Police are putting on additional patrols in areas where this may be an issue.  We do ask that if you do spot any issues of a hate crime nature that you report these through to 101 or online at www.wakefield.gov.uk/residents/community-and-housing/community/hate-crime so these are able to be monitored.

Please contact Carol McArthur (Student Wellbeing and Safeguarding Manager) via c.mcarthur@wakefield.ac.uk, Moodle or call into student central if you would like any support or further advice.
