Metro Covid19 Info Nov 2020

Public transport is available for those who need it, but you should only leave home for food, medical reasons, exercise, education or work. Capacity is currently limited across services and we ask that passengers allow extra time, consider the time of day they travel, follow social distancing guidelines, wear a face covering and check their journey before setting off. Cycling and walking journeys should be considered if it is possible to do so.

You should avoid travelling in or out of your local area, and you should look to reduce the number of journeys you make. However, you can and should still travel for a number of reasons, including:

  • travelling to work where this cannot be done from home
  • travelling to education and for caring responsibilities
  • hospital GP and other medical appointments or visits where you have had an accident or are concerned about your health
  • visiting venues that are open, including essential retail
  • exercise, if you need to make a short journey to do so

Metro Covid19 Face Coverings Nov 2020

You must wear a face covering on public transport as well as in our Bus Stations and Interchanges unless you're exempt. New government rules are now in place which could mean being issued with a fine if you don't wear one.

If you are exempt from wearing a face covering then you can download an assistance card to help communicate this to staff on bus and rail services. Print them off or take a picture on your phone to show the driver, conductor or station staff to let them know what help you need.
