New Bus Tickets for Under 19s - WYCA

From 25 July, bus tickets for under 19-year-olds in West Yorkshire will change under a new Young Person’s Fare Deal developed by the West Yorkshire Bus Alliance, which is made up of the Combined Authority, First, Arriva, Transdev and ABOWY the smaller bus operators (Alliance of Bus Operators in West Yorkshire).

The Fares Deal responds to customers’ demands and Tracy Brabin, the Mayor of West Yorkshire’s pledge for cheaper and simpler fares across West Yorkshire with:

  • A simplified single fares structure where the customer pays no more than 60p for short journeys of under 1 mile, £1.20 for most journeys and £1.80 for longer journeys between major towns and cities.
  • MCard providing the only day, week and month tickets for unlimited use at anytime on any operator’s services.
  • Up to a 12% reduction in Under 19 MCard products including the MyDay ticket giving unlimited bus travel all day from just £2.25.

The benefits of this deal bring convenience, greater value, choice and peace of mind to young people and their parents at a time when the easing of social restrictions should bring renewed freedom for young people to enjoy social experiences and independence over the summer.
