DO YOU WANT TO  “EARN AS YOU LEARN”  JOIN  PROJECT COLLEGE

As an Army Reserve soldier we will give you the opportunity to train and learn new skills and get paid for each day (or part day) that you attend Reserve Training.

 Project College provides students with an alternative student funding stream during their studies and further paid opportunities to learn new skills and develop leadership ability.

All students from Wakefield College will be eligible for Project College funding from date of enlistment into 299 Parachute Squadron Royal Engineers.  You must be between 18 years – 30 years of age, be able to pass an Army medical, and not have an criminal record.

 

  • Individuals will be paid for up to 50% of the enrolled timetable[1] at Wakefield College, up to a maximum of 72 days. In order to be eligible students must be studying a qualification that is relevant the Royal Engineers Reserves.

 

  • Project College students will be required to train on Tuesday evenings for 2 hours (paid once attested).  Students must attend a minimum of 27 days annual military training (paid) and also pass their annual Military Training tests.

 

  • Daily rate of pay is £38.00[2], a working day in accordance with the Reserve Forces Act 1996 is 8 hours.

 

  • Pay for military training from 27 days a year @ £38.00* per day (= from £1,026.00)

 

  • Annual Tax Free Bounty for completing a year of training and passing the annual military tests starts at £498.00 payable each April at the end of the training year.

 

  • Bonus when attested (day student joins the Army) =      £300.00

 

  • Bonus for successfully completing Phase One Training =      £1,000.00

 

  • Bonus for successfully completing Phase Two Training =      £1,000.00

 

  • As a member of the Reserves you can gain qualifications and experience in many different areas; these new skills and qualifications could potentially help you into full-time employment.
