The sporting academies, which include Football and Rugby League, offer students an experience similar to a professional academy, whilst staying in education at the college. The training takes place every morning with our own highly qualified coaches who are all working in professional sport at the moment as well, you will also have access to Strength and Conditioning, Video Analysis and Sports Injury clinics. The squad competes against other high standard colleges on Wednesday afternoons and will be expecting to compete for honours next season.

Players on the academy program have had long history of success, producing many athletes that have gone on to play internationally, get scholarships and professional contracts, Rugby League players will have even more chance of this next as part  or partnership with Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

To be a trialist you should be;

  • Returning to Wakefield College next year as a full time student
  • 16-17 this academic year.
  • Have a good attendance record and report from your tutor
  • Have recent experience of playing competitive Football or Rugby League

Currently there is only a Men’s Football Program, however, if any Women’s footballer’s are wishing to be involved, please send your details forward, as a Women’s football program may offered if there is enough demand.
