Wakefield Skills Summit – Skills for Our Future
Friday 8th July 2016
9am (for a 9.30am start) until 2.30pm (Please note earlier finish time)
Unity Works, Westgate, Wakefield WF1 1EP
Thanks to those who have already registered for this important event – we’ll be in touch soon with further information. However, if you haven’t, we’d like to remind you of your invitation to attend.
Over the past decade, the Council and its partners have been working hard to build strong foundations for our economy in difficult times. However, we know we need to do more, so we are embarking on an ambitious journey to continue our transformation of the Wakefield economy; by improving the skills of our citizens and ensuring everyone benefits from growth.
This event will be an important event to shape and agree the way in which we will go about doing this.
The event will consider how Wakefield is currently doing on skills, where we need to go in the future and how we are going to get there.
We know we can’t achieve this on our own. We need you to tell us what skills we need for our future and how we can deliver them.
This will be an essential opportunity for local businesses, education providers and wider partners to shape plans and to agree a way forward for the District.
Speakers confirmed so far include;
- Cllr Peter Box, CBE, Leader of Wakefield Council
- Joanne Roney, OBE, Chief Executive of Wakefield Council
- Andrew Carter, Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Research, Centre for Cities
- Roger Marsh, OBE, Chair of the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership.
- Stephanie Burras, CBE, Chief Executive of Ahead Partnership and Chair of the Leeds City Region Employment and Skills Panel
- Paul Reid, Chair of the Wakefield Enterprise Partnership
