Hello student,

As you may already be aware Wakefield College has recently installed a ‘lockdown’ alert to help protect all students, staff and visitors from –

  • A reported incident/civil disturbance in the local community with the potential to pose a risk to students, staff and visitors
  • An intruder on the College site with the potential to pose a risk to students, staff and visitors
  • A warning received regarding a local risk of pollution
  • A major fire in the vicinity of the College
  • The close proximity of a dangerous dog roaming loose
  • Severe weather conditions

The College’s lockdown system will be tested soon.  During any such test you will hear an audible alarm containing the following message – ‘Attention, this is a test of the lockdown alarm system’.

When you hear this test sound/message you are asked not to react and to please remain calm and within the classroom/environment that you currently are in.

Note – If you hear this alarm but containing another message (other than the ‘test’ message), please remain calm and follow the instructions of the message and your tutors/College member of staff.

In advance of any lockdown system test a notification to you and your parents/carers will be sent via College email, Moodle news and the College’s social media platforms.

Thanks
