'Black History Month always provides a fantastic opportunity for us to recognize the outstanding contributions people of African and Caribbean descent have made to our country over many generations', and here at Wakefield College we intend this year to be no different.

What will we be doing?

  • A poster campaign celebrating the enormous contribution Black Britons have made to our vibrant and diverse society.
  • Sharing resources such as videos and presentations for both staff and students.
  • Sharing Film and Book lists relating to Black Lives and Black History.
  • We will be adding more events and activities throughout the month so keep an eye out for these as well.

What can you do?

  • Keep an eye out for different events and activities you can get involved in.
  • Take time to pause, think and reflect.
  • Share resources, activities and information with other students, staff and friends.
  • Could you research and share information on a famous Black person that relates to your subject area?
  • Sign up to the Wakefield College Diversity & Inclusion Club to share your thoughts and ideas (meetings the first Tuesday of every Month).

“Diversity is not about how we differ. Diversity is about embracing one another’s uniqueness.” —Ola Joseph
