We would like to consider naming an area, a building or location within the College to show our appreciation for an individual as part of Black History Month 2020 and to create a legacy of recognition for an outstanding contribution. All details on how to enter are below!

Would you like to be instrumental in the history of Wakefield College by assisting the College to recognise the inspirational contributions in recent and past history of Britain of people of African and Caribbean descent as part of Black History Month 2020?

You may be a student on a study programme, an apprenticeship, a HE course or an adult programme, this competition is open to everyone.

Provide us with a submission which you have researched, that celebrates an individual within the black history of Britain and all the entries will be considered.  You may be an A level student who is passionate about English and would like us to consider the naming of our library area?  Perhaps you are a student on a digital programme who would be interested in renaming our digital hub,  a sports student inspired by a sporting icon who would like to see this recognised in one of our zones, an engineering student who is inspired by the contribution of an individual to Britain's infrastructure or it may be that you think one of our communal areas shared by all our students warrants a new name and recognising someone who has made a real difference.

To enter send your submissions by no later than 6th November to BlackHistory@wakefield.ac.uk.  It will be fabulous for all of us, staff and students, to share the accomplishments of some amazing people and celebrate together.  We will also be providing a great prize of £50 in vouchers for our winner and more importantly the opportunity to contribute to the history of Wakefield College.
